Let's Get Physical

Well I was tagged yesterday by the lovely Petra, so here's my list of seven songs.
They are:
Redeemer: Nicole Nordemann
Sexy Back: Justin Timberlake
Ring the Alarm: Beyonce
Follow the Sun: Beatles
Light of the World: By I can't remember
Too Old To Rock and Roll: Jethro Tull
Man In Me: Bob Dylan
There, yes, it is a strange list, but y'know, that's me! Anyways, I also saw a post yesterday at DST (no, not he pissed one) about being a little girl in the '70s. It totally cracked me up as I used to wax poetic on the bus with my friend, Jill, about the Duke boys. She got the blonde (forget his name now) and I got Tom Wopat.
Whoo!
Anyway, for those who didn't see it, here's the list again, the bold answers are mine and what I did personally:
You had that Fisher Price Doctor 's Kit with a stethoscope that actually
worked. YES!
You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a plastic basket with
flowers on it. Hellooo, who didn't
You learned to skate with actual skates (not roller blades) that had
metal wheels. YES, YES and YES. My grandpa worked at the skating rink and I hung there all the time! My skating sucked, tho.
You thought Gopher from Love Boat was cute (admit it!)YES I DID
You had nightmares after watching Fantasy Island. Yes, I did :(
You had rubber boots for rainy days and Moon boots for snowy days. Yes, my rubbers (lol) were red.
You owned a "Slip-n-Slide",on which you injured yourself on a
sprinkler head more than once. I didn't but friends did.
You owned "Klick-Klacks" and smacked yourself in the face more than
once. Nope
You had either a "bowl cut" or "pixie," not to mention the "Dorothy
Hamill". People sometimes thought you were a boy. Amen, I need to get ahold of my second grade picture, it's a scream I tell you!
Your Holly Hobbie sleeping bag was your most prized possession. No, but I had the doll with sleeping eyes.
You wore a poncho, gauchos, and knickers. I still do.
You begged Santa for the electronic game, Simon. Yes I did and I still loooove that game.
You had the Donnie and Marie dolls with those pink and purple satiny
shredded outfits. Oh yes, there is even a picture of me somewhere with my Donny and Marie dolls in front the TV while the show was on. My Barbies were present too as their glam guests. Nerd alert!
You spent hours in your backyard on your metal swing set with the
trapeze. The swing set tipped over at least once. All the freakin time!
You had homemade ribbon barrettes in every imaginable color. Yes, I had many hair things, I also used the pink curlers at night, so I had Nellie Olson hair.
You had a pair of Doctor Scholl's sandals (the ones with hard sole & the
buckle). You also had a pair of salt-water sandals. I had the Scholl's man.
You wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really bad; you wore that Little
House on the Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high neck in
at least one school picture; and you despised Nellie Olson! YES, YES and YES, althought secretly I wanted to BE Nellie Olson.
You wanted your first kiss to be at a roller rink.! Uh, Yeah! But all that was there were pedophilles.
Your hairstyle was described as having "wings" or "feathers" and you
kept it "pretty" with the comb you kept in your back pocket. Yes, I had the comb and the wings in third grade, I thought I was waaaay coool!
When you walked, the "wings" flapped up and down, looked like you were
gonna "take off" I'm not sure, probably.
You know who Strawberry Shortcake is, as well as her friends, Blueberry
Muffin and Huckleberry Pie. Oh yes I do! I had all of those darn dolls.
You carried a Muppets lunch box to school and it was metal, not plastic.
With the thermos inside! I don't think it was Muppets, but yes to the metal and thermos
You and your girlfriends would fight over which of the Dukes of Hazzard
was your boyfriend. Mentioned above, lol
YOU had Star Wars action figures, too! Leia, baby, I also had a HUGE Leia, like Barbie doll size.
It was a big event in your household each year when the "Wizard of Oz"
would come on TV. Your mom would break out the popcorn and sleeping
bags! Yes to all but sleeping bags.
You often asked your Magic-8 ball the question: "Who will I marry. Shaun
Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or David Cassidy..?" No, I asked it if I would marry Christopher Reeve.
You completely wore out your Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Fame
soundtrack record album. My aunts had the Grease album, I looooooved it!
You tried to do lots of arts and crafts, like yarn and Popsicle-stick
God's eyes, decoupage, or those weird potholders made on a plastic loom. Uh, still do.
You made Shrinky-Dinks and put iron-on kittens on your t-shirts! YES! Shrinky Dinks were coool.
You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding your
portable tape player up to the speaker. Yes, my brother and I also made a habit of going around taping ourselves doing various things. Riot!
You had subscriptions to Dynamite and Tiger Beat. No, but I bought them at Woolworth's
You learned everything you needed to know about girl issues from Judy
Blume books (Are you there God, It's me, Margaret.) YES, AMEN. I still learn a lot of stuff from Judy Blume. ;)
You thought Olivia Newton John's song "Physical" was about aerobics. Yes, I did. I loved her outfit (for shame)
You wore friendship pins on your tennis shoes, or shoelaces with heart
or rainbow designs. Yes, I wore them ALL!
You wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer. No, I wanted to be Andy Gibb's co-host.
You drowned yourself in Love's Baby Soft - which was the first "real"
perfume you ever owned .. . YES I did, I got a gift set for Christmas one year. I thought I was ALL THAT!
you glopped your lips in Strawberry Roll-on lip gloss till it almost
dripped off. Uh yeah, sounds kinda digusting when put that way!
Anyway, that's all from me, as you can see I was a typical '70s child. But weren't those the days??
Yesterday I was helping Max, 7, with his schoolwork, he had vocab words, I said something and he was like "Mom, these aren't vocab words like you had in the '80s." Uh, OK.

Like Laura said - I remember some of those things from the 80's. You totally got me wanting to go make a god's eye though. Too bad I don't have any yarn. I think I'll make some friendship pins for my daughter's shoes, too, even though she's only 3 and will just poke herself to bits with the pin while she feeds the beads to the baby... OK so maybe I won't do that.
