Cleaning freak

I made the boys clean up their room today.
Not that the job went so smoothly, they kept coming out of the room asking various questions and basically stalling.
Every five minutes it was "mom, where's this" ... and "mom, where's that" ...
But finally they manged to finish the work and pile everything in the corner, but the room is clean I guess.
I told them to clean it the way I would which was probably a mistake.
I have been known to be a "corner stacker" from time to time, also a "closet stacker," which doesn't meaning I'm hiding the fact that I'm a stacker, it just means that I throw everything into the closet.
Anyway, so now I need to show them how to sweep properly and mop the floor. Too bad I don't know how to do that stuff properly.
It never fails, when I sweep I can't get all the dirt I want and then I can't get it to go into the dustpan correctly. There's always residual dust and in a tidy line on the floor, I try to get this line to go into the dustpan, but it just makes another line.
So I give up and go get the vacuum and suck it up.
Who invented dustpans anyway? The edge of them is way to fat for tiny particles to go over. Especially when I'm holding a broom with a long handle. Usually I end up dropping the broom or some such thing.
It's frustrating.
Cleaning is frustrating.
Why do it?
It causes nothing but stress.
I'm stressed just talking about it.
And I haven't even started on mopping.
Also have you noticed that kitty litter is the worst thing to sweep up? It's horrible!
No matter how much you sweep, there's still kitty litter on the floor, it's unseen but if you are barefoot you can still feel it there. YUCK!
Anyway, that's the end of that rant, I won't talk about mopping, I'm just too exhausted.

Here's you freebie for today, it's called FLOWERING HEART. I know, it's a cheesy name, but I couldn't think of anything else.

Thank YOU Very MUch!

Don't be so hard on yourself. Getting them to do cleaning is not easy. I gave in to the stall tacktics sometimes. Now I have 3 teenagers who don't do cleaning. Just keep trying!

Steph, thanks soooo much for everything!!!! Today's freebie is really lovely. I love the flower graphic and paper - it's simple, but very classic.

Cleaning sucks (and it takes time away from digi-scrapping ;) - but once you finally get it done it's like winning a prize b/c you completed such a huge task. Just do a bit at a time then it's not so overwhelming. I have one of those teenagers too btw, who likes to be waited on rather than helping, so everyone's got an iccckky cleaning story!

Absolutely love your work. Thanks so much for sharing.
After 5 years, I still have trouble making my DH understand that socks do not store under the coffee table until laundry day! What can you do? Can't afford a housekeeper and love him too much to trade him in for the cleaner model.
